The Liaison S3 presents and opportunity for an OEM to offer a variety of communication interfaces without the cost of development, technical support or concerns for the internal data security.

Users choose from a selection of physical ports to allow bi-directional communication using Allen-Bradley, Modicon, GE, Siemens and open network protocols like DeviceNet, Profibus and industrial ethernets.  Choose port A for Allen-Bradley DF-1, port B for Modbus RTU and so on.

When one considers that the resolution of communication issues is often among the most difficult and time-consuming aspects of commissioning, OEMs have an opportunity to add real value by providing considerable flexibility with both protocol choice and data format.

The No-Technical-Support Solution

Critical to the success of offering so many communication interfaces to prospective customers is the realization that communication technology is likely not your core competency.  Fortunately, concerns about any potential support burden are relieved on several points:

• Liaison Technologies accepts responsibility for the conformity of the protocol implementation and its support.  Technical support on these issues is referred to us.

• Your customer still retains responsibility for the actual network and the extensive diagnostic and monitoring facility (and log files) provide documentary evidence of proper function.

A Stock Item

The One-time configuration and testing of the interfaces allows OEMs to stock units as part numbers.  Liaison ships you the unit pre-configured and tested so that it only needs to be reshipped to your customer with appropriate documentation.
