The
real world is where you live and work, and far too often communication
products are designed without taking that into consideration.
Liaison communication processors are the result of our own frustration
with commercial solutions. Our communications processors are designed from
the ground up for the realities we encounter every day in various
process industries.
Because
perfect information is a fantasy and surprises are unsurprising, Liaison
communication processors is ready for those last minute changes and
additions. Units come standard with serial and Ethernet ports with
options to add various fieldbus interfaces and the S3 and S5 supports
simultaneous utilization of multiple ports using multiple protocols.
Once you've installed a Liaison communication processor, you can simply
add data points, channels without having to buy yet another little black
box.
Successful
communication links are often about more than just communication.
Liaison communication processors are smart--smart enough to know how and
when to send or read data, and how and when not to. Liaison scripted
logic provides a whole new dimension to implementing communication links,
allowing the insertion of real-time logic to rescale data or to apply
permissions or threshold values to determine when data can be
transmitted or queried. Data can also be time-stamped and archived
to internal or external storage (PI servers or similar). If you can
think of it, we can probably do it--right out of the box.
Liaison
communication processors feature extensive resources to handle large data
point volumes over mutliple, independent communication channels.
Channel redundancy is a standard feature with true primary/secondary
switching for serial (where supported by client devices), Ethernet and
fieldbus protocols. How many points? Thousands. How many
channels? dozens by experience, hundreds theoretically.
Liaison communication processors are also hot swap redundant.
The
Liaison system features deep diagnostics and process data monitoring
remotely accessible over Ethernet (or WIFI) using standard internet
browsers. Indications are organized from the general (pseudo-LEDs
showing activity and status) to transaction-level error codes, natural
language error messages and finally packet-level protocol analyzer
capability. Configuration can also be conducted through the
browser. The S3 and S5 units also have files accessible as Microsoft
Windows™ network drives for easy back-up. All units support FTP
(file transfer protocol) and Telnet or SSH. A TTY connection is also
available over a user-selectable serial port.
Any
Liaison communication processor can be configured with multiple projects,
or configurations. These projects can be loaded by menu selection to
instantly change the character and function of the unit, enabling it to
instantly replace any one of several active units as a pre-validated
spare.
